How to Maximize The Performance And Lifespan Of The LED Lights

Time:2016-04-20 Views:2160 Compile:SUNPER

Since the introduction of the consumer market, the LED lights have become very popular in the lighting industry. The old incandescent light bulbs as well as the fluorescent bulbs are nowadays replaced by the LED lights. The main reason that has caused this shift is non-other but the remarkable energy efficiency of the LEDs. The LED products use up to 90 percent less energy compared to the incandescent bulbs. LEDs also have long life spans and some manufacturers say that their lights can last up to a maximum of 25,000 hours.

The above few reasons are enough to make an average SUNPER consumer shift to the LED lighting bandwagon. However, it is very important to understand well the efficiency and lifespan of the LED products so as to maximize their longevity as well as their performance. Simply, you can take the purported lifespan of 50,000 hours of the LED high bays and start a simple comparison of them with other light sources. You will find that the LED items are the most-long lasting and this is due to their low temperatures as well as the solid-state engineering. However, it is worth knowing that the lifespan and performance of the LED high bays actually shorten with age.

The above statement means that the LED products such as the high bays start becoming dimmer as time passes. However, it is still possible for a LED product to go for up to 50,000 hours which is equivalent to 8 years if the LED product it is only used half a day which is 12 hours. It is also a fact that the light generated by the LED products usually decrease as time goes by. In such situations, it is crucial to consider an alternative when your LED lights becomes too dim such that you are not comfortable with the light it is emitting.

There are a few tips to maximize the actual lifespan as well as performance of the LED lights. Such tips include the following.

1. Be keen with your usage

LEDs are designed to be effective and energy efficient. However, controlling their usage is also important to make them last longer. The best way to prevent the aging process is by simply being careful with your usage. By doing so, you will be able to increase your energy efficiency. If they are used for too long, they tend to get dim and thus you should avoid using them for too long if possible. You can do so by only turning on lights when needed.

2. Give LEDs time to cool down

It is true that LEDs only generate less heat as compared to halogens and incandescent lamps. However, they can burn you if you touch them after being on for long. It is therefore very important to allow them to cool down by switching them off. This will also increase their longevity.

3. Do not switch your LED lights on and off more often

Switching on and off your light bulbs affects greatly their lifespans. This not only applies to halogen lamps and incandescent lamps only, but also to the LED lights. Therefore, it is good to limit the number of times your lights are switched on and off.
