Auckland is one of the cities in New Zealand which is expected to have updated to the LED street lights in the next five years to come. This is the information concerning how Auckland will update the LED street lights.

The department concerned with transportation of Oakland started by the LED luminaire replace program in the New Zealand. The relevant authorities is supposed to replace about 44,000 high pressure sodium lamps commonly referred to as golden shade as well as install energy-efficient LED street lamps. The department transportation of Auckland normally manages more than 100,000 street lights. This represents more about a third of lighting in New Zealand. The secretary in this department by the name Dr. Liszt said that the first phase of the plan will take a period of five years. This is about half of the street lights in this great city to replace the warm white to cold white.

The Oakland department of transportation commission adopted this plan last year thereby leaving the other half of the LED lights to replace the work in about 4 to 5 years. Dr. Li Wei said that in 20 years lifespan of the LED lamps, this program will have saved 32 million net dollars in New Zealand. The minister and chairmen of the ministry of transportation energy and resources announced a policy of change in March. The policy change will allow the local authorities to speed up the replacement of the LED lights.

Mr. Bridges has agreed with this change and he said that the accelerated replacement program is to update the LED lights in order to make changes and ensure the local councils have enough resources to take action. The Auckland transportation department has 4 street maintenances and it is thus expected to start by this month. The changes include even the 2015 plan to replace the LED lamps. This areas has been divided into four namely the Electrix Ltd, Downer ITS and others.

The first stage involves the contract for the residential section of the main focus which accounts for 40 per cent of the local road lighting network. The department concerned started planning it since 2012. The exchange of the old LED lamps will hence reduce by more than 60 percent in energy consumption. The department is currently using 2,000 energy-efficient LED lamps. The first wave of the replacement project shall replace 1000 lights within the shortest time possible.

The Tele-Management System commonly referred to as TMS monitor shall be installed in order to monitor the network of the LED lights. This will also help in saving energy consumption by 15 to 20 percent. The TMS will therefore help to strengthen the customer services and all errors on the system can be corrected in the same day. The department concerned has also installed LED light in the vicinity of the Eden Pak. This measure contains a previous plan and also increases the illumination levels and ensures that they are working well.

Generally, it will enhance visibility as well as reaction time of the pedestrians and drivers thereby reducing chances of injuries due to accidents. All you have to keep in mind is that the basic measure to replace the LED lamps is a future policy which will soon come and should be taken keenly and with a lot of care.
