The entire process involved in extending the life of the New LED Technology

Time:2015-09-06 Hits:2417 Compile:SUNPER

Extending the life of the new LED technology was started in Germany with an aim of reducing costs. Nowadays, there has been a widespread use of the LED light products. However, there are two methods being used currently and unable to produce high cost of the white LED. They include the product life which is short as well as the limiting factors of development of this industry. Over the recent past, the researchers from Nuremberg in Germany at the University of Erlangen in fluorescent protein material have developed a new production process. This is to enable the production of the white LED products to become cheaper as well as simpler. In addition to this, it ensures the environment is safe and also extends the life of these products significantly.

When compared with the incandescent lamps, the lighting materials such as halogen lamps and white LED have a long life, environmental protection, advantages of easy maintenance as well as high energy efficiency. However, there is a disadvantage since the price is a bit high mainly due to the production process involved which is complex.

The two ways of producing the white LED

To start with, the surface of the blue LED is coated with rare earth inorganic materials or just phosphor. This produces the long life of the white LED and has a good brightness too. However, the process involved in this process is quite complicated and thus high costs are incurred. The second way is by use of the organic LED between the two electrodes that are embedded in a plurality of the organic semiconductor layers. This production process is quite simpler and consequently the life and brightness of the product are not very good like in the other method.

How to combine the two processes

There is an ideal approach on how the above two processes can be combined. The researchers from the Erlangen University based on this idea to conduct the research. Using the right personnel and advanced materials, they invented a cheaper and simpler production process. The fluorescent protein coated on a rubber material and then imbedded into LED. The fluorescent material used is both cheaper and environmentally friendly. In the process, the researchers were also able to solve the problem of fluorescent stability at high humidity, temperatures and in other different environments.

Currently, the researchers have been able to develop the new coating technology. They usually fluorescent the protein coated on a gel-like material. The gel from the aqueous protein solution and polymer blend composition is attached to the mesh gel. The required humidity is maintained. The gel is dried so as to be converted into rubber material by vacuum and also the multi-layer coating the white LED. The professor from the same university said that it was a success to them of this approach to energy-efficient, environmentally friendly, cheaper and long life white LED. He also added that the production process is expected to be applied in the next generation of the LED industrial production. Generally, this process has been so successful and it is worth for use by any white LED user.
